+ The international exhibition of the 3rd Noci Cortinfestival – International Short Film Festival is accepting entries of films with maximum duration of fifteen minutes, made after January 2006, until June 10. The festival takes place in Noci, Italy, in August.

+ The biennial ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival, which will have a new edition in October in Berlin, is accepting submissions of short films based upon poems until June 16. Prizes total ten thousand euros.

+ Films made in any country may be submitted until June 20 to the 11th International 1001 Documentary Film Festival, to be held in November in Istanbul. The selection favors artwork that “defends the coexistence of different cultures.”

+ The IMAGO – International Young Film Festival will accept, until June 23, submissions of works for three competitive exhibitions. The Under 25 exhibition features filmmakers of up to twenty-five years of age and low-cost works, twenty-five minutes long or less. The IMAGO is held in October in Fundão, Portugal.

+ The VAD – Festival Internacional de Vídeo i Arts Digitals in Girona, Spain, to be held October 15 through 19, will accept submissions of single-channel videos, installations, interactive works, and visual performance/concert until June 27. A prize of two thousand euros will be granted for each category.

+ An annual festival focusing on “the manipulated moving image,” the AURORA 2008 will take place from November 12 through 15 in Norwich, United Kingdom, and will accept submissions of works in the film, music video, and installation categories up until June 27.

+ The 37th Festival du nouveau cinéma in Montreal, due to take place in October in the Canadian city, is receiving submissions of films for its international competition until June 30.

+ The 49th Festival dei Popoli – International Documentary Film Festival, to be held November 14 through 21 in Florence, Italy, will receive, until June 30, submissions of films concluded before April 30, 2008, and in August, of films that were concluded after that date or which are in production. The festival offers fifteen thousand euros plus in prizes.

+ The 27th Uppsala International Short Film Festival, in Sweden, is receiving submissions of films sixty minutes long or less, in any format or genre, until June 30. The festival will be held in October

+ + The 12th International Short Film Festival Winterthur, to take place in the Swiss city November 5 through 9, is accepting submissions of films twenty-five minutes long or less, in any genre, made from January 2006 onwards, until June 30.

+ The CologneOFF IV, fourth edition of the Cologne Online Film Festival, will be held simultaneously online and as part of the programme of partnering festivals in several countries, in November. Up until June 30, the festival will accept submissions of films and videos with maximum duration of fifteen minutes, and which experiment with “new concepts of transforming artistic contents into moving images.”.

+ Applications are open up to July 1 for the second edition of the Avina Scholarships for Journalistic Research on Sustainable Development, which aims to encourage production of news stories on “relevant issues in the quest for models of sustainable development In Latin America.” Scholarships total US$250,000 and will benefit projects in categories such as climate change, social inclusion, and art and society. Designed to promote artistic production in the continent, the latter category is the result of a partnership between the Avina Foundation, based in Panama, and Casa Daros, a project by contemporary art collection Daros Latinamerica (Switzerland).

+ The 25th edition of the Bogota Filme Festival (Colombia), to be held in October, will receive submissions of films, documentary films, art documentaries, children’s movies, animation, short films, and videos until July 1..

+ The 24th International Short Film Festival Berlin, scheduled to take place in November, will bring together four hundred films, one hundred of which will feature in competitive exhibitions for documentary films, international films, and films by children and youths, among others. Prizes total US$60,000. Enrolments are open until July 4.
